Lionel-Andrés Iniesta's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Marcos Cotilla firmly grabbed it by the left post. Isidoro Sarmiento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jose Carita made in the 20th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Miguel Miralles. The supporters of ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™ booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Carita didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 25th minute, ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™'s Clóvis Cabral ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Marcos Cotilla. Marcos Cotilla yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Isidoro Sarmiento struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Sune Rudberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panama. 36 minutes into the match, Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lionel-Andrés Iniesta. After a defensive mix-up in Panama's zone, Clóvis Cabral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcos Cotilla came out of the goal and Clóvis Cabral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Clóvis Cabral to strike the kick off in the second half. Clóvis Cabral struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Stig Ahlbeck kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. 79 minutes into the match, Panama's goal looked a bit too open when Clóvis Cabral came free, but Marcos Cotilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Panama defense, Lionel-Andrés Iniesta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Cotilla. The Panama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Cotilla should have stopped the shot. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™ fans cheered their team off the field, for while Panama had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
