Méndez Marfa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. In the 20th minute, Gilberto Jakobe got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Méndez Marfa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Felix Montenegro went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After having played for 29 minutes, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Méndez Marfa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Lealtad Futbol Club getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Gilberto Jakobe hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Lealtad Futbol Club's Kaspar Binderup got a free kick in the 41st minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
