Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armando Natalucci in the 39th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Ettore Placidi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dave Clemente having to make a save. In the 46th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dave Clemente saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ettore Placidi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Dave Clemente in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
