After a defensive mix-up in Black Rose 1979's zone, Julian Murillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist came out of the goal and Julian Murillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Milagros Fraga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karl-Johan Ahlqvist having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Peru's zone, Enzo-Nicolás Pérez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rolando Noboa came out of the goal and Enzo-Nicolás Pérez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Black Rose 1979's Karl-Johan Ahlqvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Milagros Fraga in the 28th minute of play. Peru's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luz Tejedor in the 29th minute. The corner led Peru's Luz Tejedor to fire away a dangerous shot which Karl-Johan Ahlqvist despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gerardo Hitz in the 34th minute of the match. Peru's attentive Eliseo Mina managed to snatch the ball when Joel Venceslao made a throw-in in the 43rd minute of the game. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Luz Tejedor. But to his dismay, Luz Tejedor quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gerardo Hitz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eliseo Mina struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. When Julian Murillo, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 56 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Karl-Johan Ahlqvist was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 62 minutes into the match, Black Rose 1979's goalkeeper Karl-Johan Ahlqvist had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luz Tejedor. Luz Tejedor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 67th minute of play. Peru's Eliseo Mina quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Joel Venceslao, made in the 73rd minute of the game. In the 76th minute Gerardo Hitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julian Murillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 84th minute, Julian Murillo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 87th minute Gerardo Hitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Black Rose 1979's Karl-Johan Ahlqvist proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Black Rose 1979 from getting a goal against them.
