The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Mesbah Cherrads short, quick shot in the 4thth minute got David Ventura to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Through an outstanding action, after 5 minutes, David Ventura successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Sporting CP's David Ventura proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting CP from getting a goal against them. After 10 minutes, Quintino Azeredo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sporting CP and the Rugby players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Rugby booed when Sporting CP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Quintino Azeredo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sporting CP's David Ventura proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting CP from getting a goal against them. 16 minutes into the match, Hamid Amara had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of David Ventura. Sporting CP's David Ventura proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting CP from getting a goal against them. David Ventura didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 43rd minute, which inside left pole to 4-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

Sporting CP's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 8-0. When the referee ended the match the Rugby players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
