Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vascogoianiense FC the free kick. After 24 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Rigoberto Mina. Vascogoianiense FC's Nelsinho Leite played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 28th minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Gilmar Monteiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nelsinho Leite saved Vascogoianiense FC from getting behind. Venezuela's defense didn't have a chance, in the 37th minute, when Gilmar Monteiro scored to the left of an out of position Jonathan Ferrant, making the score, 3-0. Jonathan Ferrant was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but João Pirani showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-0 in the 40 minute of play. Vascogoianiense FC's Nelsinho Leite played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 46th minute of play. João Pirani charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed João Pirani the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Vascogoianiense FC's João Pirani got a free kick in the 47th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gilmar Monteiro was the one to do the kick off. Gilmar Monteiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. 52 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Aírton Sousa was slow to take the kick. During this time Vascogoianiense FC's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Gilmar Monteiro got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jonathan Ferrant quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Pirani, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. 54 minutes into the game, Vascogoianiense FC's João Pirani nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. In the 58thth minute of the game Gilmar Monteiro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Vascogoianiense FC made a substitution. Carlos Eduardo Sergipano replaced Edmílson Fernandez. 67 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Gilmar Monteiro came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Vascogoianiense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matheus Neto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tomas Illescas's late challenge caught a Vascogoianiense FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tomas Illescas helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Tomas Illescas hit a great ball. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilmar Monteiro in the 86th minute of play. In the 89thth minute of the game Gilmar Monteiro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 90 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Gilmar Monteiro came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vascogoianiense FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Aírton Sousa in the 91st minute. Sidnei Leão was in a good position and ended up with the ball after Vascogoianiense FC's free kick, but he didn't get a good hit on the ball and blazed it high and to the right of the goal. Pedrinho Vasco kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
