With a little luck, Chile's Thiago Pliego got control of the ball when Sven Thorsberg tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maximino Lope in the 14th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the match, El retorno del Pincha's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but André Zonta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Xavier Figueroa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 20th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Zonta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 22 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Maximino Lope sped through Chile's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Thiago Pliego. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximino Lope, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 27th minute, Maximino Lope got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Chile getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Alan Tamayo hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Chile's zone, Ernesto Tristezza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thiago Pliego came out of the goal and Ernesto Tristezza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maximino Lope in the 31st minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mariano Lacasa in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck André Zonta prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 36thth minute of the game Mariano Lacasa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but El retorno del Pincha's André Zonta was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. André Zonta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 37th minute of the match. 39 minutes into the match, El retorno del Pincha's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but André Zonta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 43 minutes, Mariano Lacasa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chile's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mariano Lacasa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 44th minute Marcel Ternby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Ernesto Tristezza made a great header on El retorno del Pincha's corner, it was just that Chile's Thiago Pliego managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 85th minute Armando Inautzi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 87 played minutes El retorno del Pincha got a freekick which was hit by Armando Inautzi. 93 minutes into the game, El retorno del Pincha's Abelardo Abechuco nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thiago Pliego made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Chile's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
