Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Agustín Saelices was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ivan Chiuzbaian breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Felix Montes got a throw-in 14 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Cristian Sancho. Zhao Sen Yang's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. In the 21st minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Chiuzbaian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zhao Sen Yang in the 23rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the game, Felix Montenegro threw the ball into play from the sideline. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Grigore Maghiran quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Zhao Sen Yang struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-. Zhao Sen Yang sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Zhao Sen Yang's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Julio Vera firmly grabbed it by the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bernardo Di Piazza during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 40 minutes into the game, one of Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. A collision led to Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Bernardo Di Piazza hit a great ball. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zhao Sen Yang in the 58th minute of the match. In the 63rd minute, Zhao Sen Yang left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Primitivo Grau, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Primitivo Grau in the 72nd minute of play. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zhao Sen Yang, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. In the 84th minute of the match, Felix Montenegro got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ivan Chiuzbaian was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mugurel Pandele didn't get a good kick on the ball. Petre Iftode recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Primitivo Grau in the 91st minute of play. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
