Camilo Franco scored 0-1 in the 3rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Andy Garcia, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Joaquin Gayoso made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Zézinho Moraes sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zézinho Moraes in the 10th minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 13th minute, Zézinho Moraes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquin Gayoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Joaquin Gayoso didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zézinho Moraes went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Joaquin Gayoso was a little too slow when Zézinho Moraes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 21st minute. The score was now 3-1. After a rather tough play, Soda f c's Victorino Nesto got a free kick in the 28th minute. When Uruguay's Francisco Seco in the 31st minute got a chance for a shot 31st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Soda f c's goalie prevented a goal. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Uruguay from getting a goal against them. In the 36th minute, Zézinho Moraes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Soda f c fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. 42 minutes into the match, Soda f c's Zézinho Moraes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joaquin Gayoso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Francisco Seco stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Maximiliano Escribano left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Uruguay fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. After having played for 59 minutes, Francisco Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Uruguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisco Seco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 63rd minute Zézinho Moraes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 68th match minute, Soda f c was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gugu Guimarães to maneuver through the defense. After 70 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Sainz. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zézinho Moraes, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. In the 77th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorge Sainz to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute, Jorge Sainz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ümit Daman in the 79th minute of the match. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ümit Daman's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. 89 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Ümit Daman came free, but Joaquin Gayoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Uruguay getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Jorge Sainz hit a great ball. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Soda f c was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niculae Turdeanu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Uruguay's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
