Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th minute of the game Camilo Gisbert made a throw-in which Agustín Saelices played forward. 12 minutes into the match, Bolivar's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Afiz Ching reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Afiz Ching took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Bolivar defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Afiz Ching. The Bolivar fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Afiz Ching should have stopped the shot. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Afiz Ching. Afiz Ching dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Jordão Sesimbra hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Afiz Ching took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Afiz Ching showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 29th minute of the match. After 33 minutes, Patrik Stöckert mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bolivar and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Bolivar's Patrik Stöckert got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Afiz Ching showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. 39 minutes in the game Camilo Gisbert did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Luis Andino. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afiz Ching having to interfere. Luis Andino made in the 46th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Cristian Sancho immediately put the ball in play. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 51 minutes, Tedj Sellal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bolivar's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tedj Sellal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 53rd minute Patrik Stöckert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Tedj Sellal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Senijad Ibričić in the 56th minute of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Senijad Ibričić in the 61st minute of play. After having played for 64 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Afiz Ching. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. Bolivar's Tedj Sellal got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Brett Cordrey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 95th play minute Cristian Sancho came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Afiz Ching. 0-3. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Bolivar throughout the match.
