The referee ignored Messejana SportClub - DMZ's protests and gave Flavinho Neiva a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Messejana SportClub - DMZ getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Flavinho Neiva hit a great ball. 10 minutes into the game, Messejana SportClub - DMZ's Juarês Melo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joaquin Gayoso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Maximiliano Escribano scored 1-1 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Per-Olof Sikström, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Messejana SportClub - DMZ getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. José Paulo Seco hit a great ball. After 29 minutes of play, Messejana SportClub - DMZ's Juarês Melo made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joaquin Gayoso was left in no man's land by his defense there! Juarês Melo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Joaquin Gayoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Francisco Seco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Alberto Gisbert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Yuri Alberto kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. 40 minutes into the game, Maximiliano Escribano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Uruguay's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Messejana SportClub - DMZ the free kick. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juarês Melo, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Juarês Melo hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. After 47 played minutes, Uruguay's Bruno Beldad shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Per-Olof Sikström came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Uruguay reached it. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After some careless play in the Uruguay defense, Yuri Alberto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. The Uruguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin Gayoso should have stopped the shot. Messejana SportClub - DMZ's Bebeto Santos was substituted for Darío Furlan. In the 60th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arturo Carvallo to maneuver through the defense. 66 minutes into the game, Kevin Carballal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Messejana SportClub - DMZ reached it. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teodoro Uster in the 68th minute of the match. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Teodoro Uster's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Messejana SportClub - DMZ were victorious despite being under pressure from Uruguay for much of the match.
