Tomas Berganza kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. In the 20th minute, Juarês Melo made a precise shot to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Panama's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Marcos Cotilla made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Mário Veiga sent off a good shot on target. In the 37th minute, Darío Furlan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Abraham Alguacil was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 37th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 41st match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Carita to maneuver through the defense. In the 42nd minute Juarês Melo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Cotilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Berganza made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Messejana SportClub - DMZ's Erik Silveira got a free kick in the 51st minute. Juarês Melo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcos Cotilla having to interfere. Messejana SportClub - DMZ's Teodoro Uster was substituted for Juarês Melo. Messejana SportClub - DMZ's Per-Olof Sikström proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Messejana SportClub - DMZ from getting a goal against them. Marcos Cotilla stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Teodoro Uster's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. 65 minutes into the game, Isidoro Sarmiento recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Per-Olof Sikström. Isidoro Sarmiento showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1.
