In the 11th minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Joel Gaona almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Zamalek FC's Rhys Dimmock did a great save. Leonardo Lane struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Dante Lacasa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Zamalek FC. 14 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leonardo Lane. Rhys Dimmock showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 24th minute of the match. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leonardo Lane in the 25th minute. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 29th minute. In the 39th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rhys Dimmock saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Zamalek FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Rhys Dimmock reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Reese Otto to strike the kick off in the second half. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Rhys Dimmock made a huge save. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reese Otto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 80th minute, Lautaro Mancebo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mexico fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reese Otto, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Mexico had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
