The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Valdo Paes the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of CA Brasileiros Juniors protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Valdo Paes had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee gave JEC - FC a penalty, 10 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Julio Baptista, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of CA Brasileiros Juniors's Luís Fernando Amaral. 0-1. David Leite kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Douglas Meira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in CA Brasileiros Juniors's zone, Douglas Meira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Fernando Amaral came out of the goal and Douglas Meira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 27th minute Julio Baptista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Fernando Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Baptista might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luís Fernando Amaral. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Julio Baptista ran back to his position shaking his head. David Leite who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 30thth minute tested the skills of Carlos Ramos when he managed to save the team from getting behind. CA Brasileiros Juniors's Luís Fernando Amaral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julio Baptista in the 31st minute of play. 32 minutes into the game, Julio Baptista cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Luís Fernando Amaral was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. JEC - FC made a substitution. Reynaldo Vander replaced Liu Xiang Zhen. JEC - FC's Luisinho Ribeiro was substituted for Ricardinho Maia. 39 minutes into the match, JEC - FC's goalkeeper Carlos Ramos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sten Aher. Luís Fernando Amaral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julio Baptista in the 40th minute of the match. In the 45th minute, Tony Modig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Lech Spychalski came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the JEC - FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lech Spychalski couldn't finish the play.

In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind JEC - FC's goalkeeper Carlos Ramos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to CA Brasileiros Juniors getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Thijs Wijgaert hit a great ball. CA Brasileiros Juniors made a substitution. Glenn Ottaway replaced David Leite. The supporters of JEC - FC booed when CA Brasileiros Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thijs Wijgaert didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Douglas Meira in the 81st minute of play forced CA Brasileiros Juniors's goalkeeper Luís Fernando Amaral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th minute of the match JEC - FC got a corner. CA Brasileiros Juniors's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Lech Spychalski ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Lech Spychalski almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but CA Brasileiros Juniors's Luís Fernando Amaral did a great save. Reynaldo Vander kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. 93 minutes into the match, Glenn Ottaway notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of JEC - FC's Carlos Ramos. Carlos Ramos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
