In the 9th minute Antônio Carlos Bueno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Per-Olof Sikström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, Toninho Moreira notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Messejana SportClub - DMZ's Per-Olof Sikström. Per-Olof Sikström was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 19 minutes into the game, Messejana SportClub - DMZ's Mário Veiga nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arlindo Guedes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. In the 23rd match minute, AF CERRADO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Alberto Jacinto to maneuver through the defense. Per-Olof Sikström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Murilo Lucas, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Mário Veiga blasted a shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arlindo Guedes having to make a save. 32 minutes into the match, AF CERRADO's goalkeeper Arlindo Guedes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mário Veiga. After a rather tough play, Messejana SportClub - DMZ's Mário Veiga got a free kick in the 44th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mário Veiga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Arlindo Guedes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yuri Alberto in the 52nd minute of play. After 54 minutes AF CERRADO's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Erik Silveira who took care of the corner kick. Mário Veiga took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arlindo Guedes. Arlindo Guedes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Messejana SportClub - DMZ's Bebeto Santos was substituted for Darío Furlan. The supporters of AF CERRADO booed when Messejana SportClub - DMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mário Veiga didn't get a good kick on the ball. AF CERRADO's Arlindo Guedes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mário Veiga in the 71st minute of play. Arlindo Guedes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yuri Alberto in the 74th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Toninho Moreira in the 78th minute of play forced Messejana SportClub - DMZ's goalkeeper Per-Olof Sikström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of AF CERRADO booed when Messejana SportClub - DMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mario Fernandes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mario Fernandes hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. 89 minutes into the match, AF CERRADO's goal looked a bit too open when Mário Veiga came free, but Arlindo Guedes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 93rd match minute, Messejana SportClub - DMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mario Fernandes to maneuver through the defense. Many of AF CERRADO's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. AF CERRADO may have spent more time on the ball, but Messejana SportClub - DMZ were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
