Dida Taffarel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Abel Secco in the 2nd minute. Alfredo Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 8th match minute, Pacuri SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Secco to maneuver through the defense. German Cano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Sebastião Terra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dida Taffarel was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Osvaldo Eger. Sebastião Terra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredo Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfredo Martins in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sebastião Terra saved Pacuri SS from getting behind. In the 28th match minute, Pacuri SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Secco to maneuver through the defense. Alfredo Martins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Sebastião Terra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Pacuri SS's goalkeeper Sebastião Terra, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match clock showed 36 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Alfredo Martins sped through Pacuri SS's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Sebastião Terra. Sebastião Terra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lorenzo Mendebal in the 41st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nestor Paraibano in the 43rd minute of play forced Pacuri SS's goalkeeper Sebastião Terra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 44 played minutes Pacuri SS got a freekick which was hit by Andriy Shevchenko. When Marquês de Herval's Alfredo Martins in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Pacuri SS's goalie prevented a goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Geovanni Barral stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dida Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abel Secco in the 51st minute of the match. In the 51st minute, Abel Secco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dida Taffarel was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Alfredo Martins recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dida Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geovanni Barral, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. 62 minutes into the match, Pacuri SS's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Martins came free, but Sebastião Terra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sebastião Terra made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Nestor Paraibano sent off a good shot on target. Sebastião Terra made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nestor Paraibano in the 66th minute. 66 minutes into the match, Nestor Paraibano dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sebastião Terra, 2-3. In the 81st minute Alfredo Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastião Terra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pacuri SS's Naldo Custódio was substituted for Abel Secco. In the 83rd minute Marquês de Herval were awarded a corner. Moussa Kabre went to the cornerflag to take it. Marquês de Herval's Moussa Kabre was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Sebastião Terra in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Nestor Paraibano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastião Terra having to interfere. 89 minutes into the match, Pacuri SS's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Martins came free, but Sebastião Terra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfredo Martins in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sebastião Terra saved Pacuri SS from getting behind. In the 95th minute of the match Marquês de Herval got a corner. Pacuri SS's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Moussa Kabre ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Marquês de Herval's Moussa Kabre to fire away a dangerous shot which Sebastião Terra despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.
