In the 11th minute, Narciso Negri made a precise shot to the right of Mauro Barreto. Clube Atlético Palhocense's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Atilla Kağan Uzman in the 20thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Martino Pozuelos, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Dinei Gøl recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 25th match minute, S.C. Internacional RS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeremias Lendaa to maneuver through the defense. Martino Pozuelos was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Jaime Campidelis. Martino Pozuelos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Atilla Kağan Uzman in the 29th minute. A collision led to Clube Atlético Palhocense getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Danilo Nóbrega hit a great ball. S.C. Internacional RS's Martino Pozuelos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Fernando França in the 34th minute of play. Clube Atlético Palhocense were awarded a corner in the 36th minute after S.C. Internacional RS's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mavrudi Dichkov took the corner. Clube Atlético Palhocense's Vânderson Guimarães was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Martino Pozuelos in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Clube Atlético Palhocense's goalkeeper Mauro Barreto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 47 minutes into the game, Narciso Negri cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Mauro Barreto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Fernando França in the 52nd minute of play forced S.C. Internacional RS's goalkeeper Martino Pozuelos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Martino Pozuelos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vânderson Guimarães, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Martino Pozuelos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luís Fernando França went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. 66 minutes into the match, Clube Atlético Palhocense's goalkeeper Mauro Barreto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dario Palombi. Clube Atlético Palhocense's Frans Henriksson was substituted for Luís Fernando França. Clube Atlético Palhocense's Jaime Mourão was substituted for Danilo Nóbrega. If Dinei Gøl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mauro Barreto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. S.C. Internacional RS's Dinei Gøl got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched S.C. Internacional RS eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
