Remigio Finlay scored 1-0 in the 6th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Grzegorz Siekierski, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 9 minutes of play, GeRaÇãO-83's Edin Džeko made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Carlinhos Freitas was left in no man's land by his defense there! Antonio Di Natale's late challenge caught a AA GUARULHOS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Antonio Di Natale helped the player get up and apologised. After 13 played minutes GeRaÇãO-83 got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Di Natale. In the 15thth minute of the game Edin Džeko who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AA GUARULHOS's Carlinhos Freitas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 20 played minutes AA GUARULHOS got a freekick which was hit by Jacobo Porfirio. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edin Džeko in the 21st minute of play forced AA GUARULHOS's goalkeeper Carlinhos Freitas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carlinhos Freitas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Medero Gadea in the 23rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Remigio Finlay got free with Grzegorz Siekierski in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. AA GUARULHOS's Carlinhos Freitas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Medero Gadea in the 29th minute of play. In the 30th minute, Paulinho Ralf hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 35th minute, Edin Džeko got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edin Džeko in the 44th minute of play forced AA GUARULHOS's goalkeeper Carlinhos Freitas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Remigio Finlay came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the AA GUARULHOS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Remigio Finlay couldn't finish the play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Medero Gadea made the kick off in the second half. AA GUARULHOS's Carlinhos Freitas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save AA GUARULHOS from getting a goal against them. 57 minutes into the game, GeRaÇãO-83's Edin Džeko nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carlinhos Freitas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Edin Džeko struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Carlinhos Freitas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GeRaÇãO-83. AA GUARULHOS were awarded a corner in the 66th minute after GeRaÇãO-83's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jacobo Porfirio took the corner. Remigio Finlay was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. When Remigio Finlay came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the AA GUARULHOS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Remigio Finlay couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, AA GUARULHOS's Carlinhos Freitas got control of the ball when Medero Gadea tried to sneak it across the goal line. Remigio Finlay struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Grzegorz Siekierski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AA GUARULHOS. Edin Džeko could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Carlinhos Freitas made a huge save. Erasmo Monteiro kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Edin Džeko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 95 played minutes GeRaÇãO-83 got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Di Natale. Although AA GUARULHOS had been in control for most of the match, GeRaÇãO-83 still came away with the win.
