The Júbilo Iwata fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Giovanni Pena should have stopped the shot. 11 minutes into the match, SRP-Laguna's goal looked a bit too open when Donato Vargas came free, but Anderson Laguna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 13th minute Xu Le Shu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giovanni Pena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of SRP-Laguna booed when Júbilo Iwata was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chico Mendonça didn't get a good kick on the ball. 19 minutes into the match, Júbilo Iwata's goal looked a bit too open when Xu Le Shu came free, but Giovanni Pena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xu Le Shu in the 20th minute of play forced Júbilo Iwata's goalkeeper Giovanni Pena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Júbilo Iwata's Chico Mendonça got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Júbilo Iwata's Giovanni Pena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xu Le Shu in the 24th minute of play. After 26 minutes Júbilo Iwata's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Emirşah Öktemer who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Emirşah Öktemer got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Giovanni Pena quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Júbilo Iwata's goalkeeper Giovanni Pena, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. SRP-Laguna were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after Júbilo Iwata's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Emirşah Öktemer took the corner. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Vânderson Penha advanced and headed the ball into goal, 0-3 in the 31st minute. In the 34th minute Xu Le Shu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giovanni Pena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xu Le Shu in the 35th minute of play forced Júbilo Iwata's goalkeeper Giovanni Pena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 36 minutes into the match, Xu Le Shu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Giovanni Pena. Júbilo Iwata's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Xu Le Shu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. 39 minutes into the match, SRP-Laguna's Xu Le Shu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Giovanni Pena narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 40th minute, Xu Le Shu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 41st minute, Dedé de Castro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Júbilo Iwata players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. SRP-Laguna were winning 0-5.

Giovanni Pena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xu Le Shu, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. SRP-Laguna's Barbaros Seçkin was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Giovanni Pena in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 55th minute of the match SRP-Laguna got a corner. Júbilo Iwata's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Emirşah Öktemer ran over to the corner to take the kick. 56 minutes into the match, Júbilo Iwata's goalkeeper Giovanni Pena had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vânderson Penha. In the 60th minute Xu Le Shu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giovanni Pena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Xu Le Shu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Giovanni Pena was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. Giovanni Pena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frasier Crane in the 82nd minute of the match. Barbaros Seçkin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Giovanni Pena made a huge save. In the 89th minute, Vânderson Penha left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SRP-Laguna fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-9. In the 92nd minute, Mazinho Correia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Frasier Crane sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Giovanni Pena made a fantastic save in the 98th minute, when Frasier Crane sent off a good shot on target. When the match was over SRP-Laguna could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Júbilo Iwata throughout the match.
