The supporters of 20 de Abril booed when Marzagão was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valério Mazza didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 8 minutes 20 de Abril's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Eliseu Fantini who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Eliseu Fantini got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Mané Netto quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Mané Netto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oliviero Vuelta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marzagão's Mieszko Karanowski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rogelio Funes Mori in the 18th minute of play. Socorro Terron's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mieszko Karanowski read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. After a rather tough play, 20 de Abril's Basílio Britto got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Mané Netto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oliviero Vuelta in the 23rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rogelio Funes Mori in the 25th minute of play forced Marzagão's goalkeeper Mieszko Karanowski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when 20 de Abril's Rogelio Funes Mori fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. In the 27thth minute of the game Oliviero Vuelta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but 20 de Abril's Mané Netto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Oliviero Vuelta was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. In the 36th minute, Oliviero Vuelta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marzagão's Mieszko Karanowski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Marzagão from getting a goal against them. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Oliviero Vuelta made a kick off. Rogelio Funes Mori recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 20 de Abril's Baltazar Mazza was substituted for Álvaro de Mendonça. Mané Netto made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Domingos Santiago sent off a good shot on target. In the 63rd minute, Robinho Freire made a precise shot to the right of Mieszko Karanowski. Marzagão's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 67th minute Oliviero Vuelta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mané Netto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marzagão's Pedro Toledo was substituted for Murillo do Valle. Marzagão's Jânio Faria was substituted for Cezar Martins. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Robinho Freire managed to get in a good position for a shot. 20 de Abril's supporters rose to their feet, but Robinho Freire was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mieszko Karanowski breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, 20 de Abril's Váldson Barral got a free kick in the 81st minute. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, Pedro Toledo took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Mané Netto to make any attempt to save it. Umberto Antunes kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. Oliviero Vuelta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the 20 de Abril players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
