Álvaro de Mendonça's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gugu Gaúcho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. The 20 de Abril fans' excitement grew in the 7th match minute when 20 de Abril's Valdo Toscano looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a defensive mix-up in Barra Funda F.C's zone, Valdo Toscano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gugu Gaúcho came out of the goal and Valdo Toscano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, 20 de Abril's Lucas Arboleda got a free kick in the 15th minute. Guilherme Corrêa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Gugu Gaúcho made a huge save. The supporters of 20 de Abril booed when Barra Funda F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jefferson Soeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdo Toscano in the 30th minute of play forced Barra Funda F.C's goalkeeper Gugu Gaúcho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Barra Funda F.C's Wesley Tróia got a free kick in the 31st minute. In the 33rd minute, Valdo Toscano left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The 20 de Abril fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. 20 de Abril's Eduardo Maranhense shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 37th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Gugu Gaúcho but with some difficulty. Gugu Gaúcho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valdo Toscano, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. When Álvaro de Mendonça came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the 20 de Abril fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Álvaro de Mendonça couldn't finish the play. In the 43rd minute, Valdo Toscano left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The 20 de Abril fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Valdo Toscano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Valdo Toscano made a precise shot to the right of Gugu Gaúcho. Barra Funda F.C's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. In the 54th minute, Guilherme Corrêa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Barra Funda F.C's zone, Eduardo Maranhense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gugu Gaúcho came out of the goal and Eduardo Maranhense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind Barra Funda F.C's goalkeeper Gugu Gaúcho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 20 de Abril's Robinho Freire was substituted for Valdo Toscano. After a defensive mix-up in Barra Funda F.C's zone, Váldson Barral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gugu Gaúcho came out of the goal and Váldson Barral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gugu Gaúcho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eduardo Maranhense in the 85th minute of play. Robinho Freire fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gugu Gaúcho having to interfere. Gugu Gaúcho didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Váldson Barral went, in the 96th minute, to the upper right corner, 9-0 was the resulting score. When the referee ended the match the 20 de Abril players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
