In the 4th minute, Coritiba Foot Ball Club's Thiago Machado ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Angelo Ongile. Angelo Ongile yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Alvaro Rudolfo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lukáš Modrić in the 8th minute of play. Thiago Machado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 19 minutes into the match, Coritiba Foot Ball Club's Thiago Machado sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Angelo Ongile narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Admon in the 22nd minute of play forced Coritiba Foot Ball Club's goalkeeper Alvaro Rudolfo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Coritiba Foot Ball Club's Alvaro Rudolfo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lukáš Modrić in the 24th minute of play. Gustavo Gomez Blanco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Thiago Machado in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Angelo Ongile prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Angelo Ongile stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Thiago Machado's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. 37 minutes into the game, Thiago Machado cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Angelo Ongile was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Thiago Machado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angelo Ongile having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Coritiba Foot Ball Club's Toninho Gomes got a free kick in the 44th minute. In the 48th match minute, Coritiba Foot Ball Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Artur Laguna to maneuver through the defense. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Thiago Machado to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Thiago Machado in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Angelo Ongile saved RIBEIRÃO FC from getting behind. 61 minutes into the match, Coritiba Foot Ball Club's goalkeeper Alvaro Rudolfo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wágner Alves. In the 64th minute Thiago Machado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Angelo Ongile saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Thiago Machado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thiago Machado struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Angelo Ongile didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Coritiba Foot Ball Club. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Thiago Machado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Coritiba Foot Ball Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Thiago Machado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Angelo Ongile breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Thiago Machado came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Coritiba Foot Ball Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thiago Machado couldn't finish the play. Coritiba Foot Ball Club's Alvaro Rudolfo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Coritiba Foot Ball Club from getting a goal against them. Nelson de Lara hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. In the 98th minute, Artur Laguna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
