After a rather tough play, Águia Tricolor's Erik Pinheiro got a free kick in the 3rd minute. In the 7th match minute, Guarapari do Esp. Santo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Pinheiro to maneuver through the defense. 10 minutes into the match, Águia Tricolor's Gugu Vinhas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emílio de Amorim narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gugu Vinhas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emílio de Amorim having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Guarapari do Esp. Santo's Jânio Motta got a free kick in the 15th minute. In the 27th minute, Gugu Vinhas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Emílio de Amorim didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Águia Tricolor's Gugu Vinhas shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-2 in the ordered_time% minute. Emílio de Amorim stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gugu Vinhas's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. Márcio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Emílio de Amorim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 48th minute, Gugu Vinhas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Águia Tricolor fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. After the first half Águia Tricolor were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gugu Vinhas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 54 minutes, Gugu Vinhas took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Emílio de Amorim to make any attempt to save it. After having played for 59 minutes, Erik Pinheiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Águia Tricolor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erik Pinheiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gugu Vinhas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Águia Tricolor's zone, Ernesto Fernandez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Murat Selim Zaik came out of the goal and Ernesto Fernandez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Murat Selim Zaik took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ernesto Fernandez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 74 minutes into the match, Gugu Vinhas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Emílio de Amorim. Guarapari do Esp. Santo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gugu Vinhas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. Guarapari do Esp. Santo's defense didn't have a chance, in the 78th minute, when Gugu Vinhas scored to the left of an out of position Emílio de Amorim, making the score, 0-6. Guarapari do Esp. Santo's Emílio de Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gugu Vinhas in the 82nd minute of play. The nice shot from Gugu Vinhas in the 83rdth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Emílio de Amorim had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. If Gugu Vinhas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Águia Tricolor made a substitution. Gabriel Batistuta replaced Erik Pinheiro. Gabriel Batistuta was extremely unlucky when he, in the 88th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 92nd minute, Águia Tricolor's Gugu Vinhas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Emílio de Amorim. Emílio de Amorim yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-7. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Gabriel Batistuta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Águia Tricolor's supporters rose to their feet, but Gabriel Batistuta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emílio de Amorim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 98 minutes, Gugu Vinhas made it 0-8 with a short kick to the right side. Guarapari do Esp. Santo's Emílio de Amorim tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The Águia Tricolor supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Águia Tricolor would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
