Iustin Bungeanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Murat Selim Zaik having to interfere. In the 5th minute Iustin Bungeanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Murat Selim Zaik saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leonardo Donato scored 0-1 in the 6th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Murat Selim Zaik, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Murat Selim Zaik showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iustin Bungeanu in the 9th minute of the match. Murat Selim Zaik made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iustin Bungeanu in the 10th minute of play. Iustin Bungeanu took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Murat Selim Zaik. Murat Selim Zaik dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iustin Bungeanu in the 26th minute of play forced Águia Tricolor's goalkeeper Murat Selim Zaik to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Iustin Bungeanu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Murat Selim Zaik was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. Valdir Lopes hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Tarcisio Reis was slow to take the kick. During this time Palmeiras's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Palmeiras's Iustin Bungeanu to fire away a dangerous shot which Murat Selim Zaik despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Iustin Bungeanu took the ball and in the 48 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Murat Selim Zaik. Murat Selim Zaik dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gugu Vinhas to make the kick off. After 62 minutes, Dênis Miranda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Palmeiras and the Águia Tricolor players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Palmeiras's Dênis Miranda got a free kick in the 62nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Genílson Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Águia Tricolor's supporters rose to their feet, but Genílson Gomes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Régis de Queirós breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Palmeiras's Ghenadie Furdui was substituted for Roderick Oosterhof. In the 83rd minute, Palmeiras's Kléberson Neiva dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-6. Águia Tricolor's Gabriel Batistuta was substituted for Erik Pinheiro. Águia Tricolor made a substitution. Armando Veiga replaced Guga França. Régis de Queirós showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gabriel Batistuta, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. 92 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Gabriel Batistuta came free, but Régis de Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match was over Palmeiras could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Águia Tricolor throughout the match.
