In the 19th minute, Carlos Casemiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Água Santa's supporters rose to their feet, but Fábio Coelho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Léo Lopes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With his leg Fernandez Gøl managed to avoid a goal in the 30thth minute, when Flamengo's José Pedro Lago fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 33rd minute, Glauco Hoffmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Casemiro in the 39th minute of play forced Flamengo's goalkeeper Léo Lopes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes had been played when some careless play by Flamengo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Carlos Casemiro was slow to take the kick. During this time E.C. Água Santa's players had a chance to rest. Carlos Casemiro made a great header on E.C. Água Santa's corner, it was just that Flamengo's Léo Lopes managed to reach the ball for a save. Fábio Coelho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Léo Lopes having to make a save. Léo Lopes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fábio Coelho in the 47th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fábio Coelho to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Albino Che was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. E.C. Água Santa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Flamengo the free kick. The supporters of Flamengo booed when E.C. Água Santa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albino Che didn't get a good kick on the ball. Flamengo's Léo Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fábio Coelho in the 57th minute of play. Fábio Coelho might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Léo Lopes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fábio Coelho ran back to his position shaking his head. Fábio Coelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The throw-in from Valdomiro Rosado in the 62nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Flamengo's Silvério Botelho. In the 65th minute, Laerte Salgado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flamengo's attentive Pedro Brito managed to snatch the ball when Valdomiro Rosado made a throw-in in the 68th minute of the game. In the 77th minute, Gualterio Gilabert made a precise shot to the right of Léo Lopes. Flamengo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. Flamengo's defense didn't have a chance, in the 80th minute, when Carlos Casemiro scored to the left of an out of position Léo Lopes, making the score, 0-6. Léo Lopes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gualterio Gilabert in the 82nd minute. Gualterio Gilabert blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Léo Lopes having to make a save. When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Gualterio Gilabert put it in 0-7 from a short distance just to the right of Léo Lopes. Gualterio Gilabert might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Léo Lopes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gualterio Gilabert ran back to his position shaking his head. Carlos Casemiro was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 88th minute. E.C. Água Santa's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Léo Lopes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gualterio Gilabert, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. After 90 minutes, Pedro Brito mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Flamengo and the E.C. Água Santa players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 90th minute, Pedro Brito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as E.C. Água Santa's Carlos Casemiro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Léo Lopes. That made the score 0-8 after 92 minutes of play.
