Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Abelardo Larra in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ladislav Telepovský prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Diogo Dionísio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ernani Ribeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ernani Ribeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 34th minute, Jeferson Santana ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Diogo Dionísio was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Jeferson Santana kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Diogo Dionísio. That made the score 3-0 in the 41 minute of play. In the 45th minute, Bernardo Bruggink hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Diogo Dionísio acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 46th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Dalmacio Vermudo. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Abelardo Larra made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dalmacio Vermudo during the 50th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Grêmio Santo André's Dalmacio Vermudo got a free kick in the 50th minute. Diogo Dionísio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wellington Vaz, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute.
