When Delfim Bertassi fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caatiba MZC's protests and gave Delfim Bertassi a yellow card for diving instead. Delfim Bertassi kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. 8 minutes into the match, Candido Uriondo notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Caatiba MZC's Ergo Muro. Edson Duarte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Ergo Muro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Niceto Ihazintu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes ARGENTINO JNR got a freekick which was hit by Geraldo Goiano. Damaso Rafel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorge Henrique, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, ARGENTINO JNR's Pedro Paulo Terra got a free kick in the 56th minute. Geraldo Goiano was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 60 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 60th minute of the game. One of ARGENTINO JNR:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Caatiba MZC:s goal. Ergo Muro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edson Duarte in the 66th minute of play. Olavo Bastoss short, quick shot in the 68thth minute got Ergo Muro to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 73rd minute, ARGENTINO JNR's Edson Duarte ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ergo Muro. Ergo Muro yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. Niceto Ihazintu kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. A hard shot by José Pedro Matos from long distance, 76 minutes into the match, got Ergo Muro's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Ergo Muro made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Edson Duarte sent off a good shot on target. In the 82nd match minute, Caatiba MZC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miguel Lizer to maneuver through the defense. Niceto Ihazintu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Damaso Rafel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Caatiba MZC's Valdomiro Ortiz got a free kick in the 86th minute. After a defensive mix-up in ARGENTINO JNR's zone, Niceto Ihazintu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Damaso Rafel came out of the goal and Niceto Ihazintu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Caatiba MZC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. ARGENTINO JNR were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
