The supporters of Ajax AFC booed when Winners was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tostão Gomes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Janek Koller hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Douglas Cabral in the 75th minute of play forced Winners's goalkeeper Elpidio Quinton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
