After 19 minutes, Carolo Cambranes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Nova Iguaçu MZFC and the October 04 players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of October 04 booed when Nova Iguaçu MZFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carolo Cambranes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th minute Emilio Cascajares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mickaël Maris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eskil Vester took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Horaţiu Măcrinici, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Ladislao Gerazan got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 30 minutes of play Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Carolo Cambranes was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Caco Matos was substituted for Ladislao Gerazan. The supporters of October 04 booed when Nova Iguaçu MZFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carolo Cambranes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eskil Vester showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Horaţiu Măcrinici, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Eskil Vester showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Horaţiu Măcrinici in the 41st minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emilio Cascajares in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mickaël Maris saved Nova Iguaçu MZFC from getting behind. In the 59th minute of the game Davut İskenderoğlu made a throw-in which Luiz Fábio de Medeiros played forward. Aníbal Correia hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. When Horaţiu Măcrinici came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Nova Iguaçu MZFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Horaţiu Măcrinici couldn't finish the play. October 04 made a substitution. Luís Paulo Pernambucano replaced Claudinei Custódio. October 04's Wilian Alcântara was substituted for Aníbal Correia. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horaţiu Măcrinici in the 69th minute of play forced October 04's goalkeeper Eskil Vester to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd minute, Horaţiu Măcrinici made a precise shot to the right of Eskil Vester. October 04's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After 77 played minutes October 04 got a freekick which was hit by Dariusz Rogoz. Luiz Fábio de Medeiros didn't quite understand what happened when in the 79 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. In the 81st minute, Dariusz Rogoz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 83 minutes into the match, October 04's goal looked a bit too open when Horaţiu Măcrinici came free, but Eskil Vester reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Mickaël Maris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Paulo Pernambucano in the 92nd minute of play.
