In the 18th match minute, Barrenta SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilmar da Rocha to maneuver through the defense. Johannes Kruuse might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edgar Trigo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Johannes Kruuse ran back to his position shaking his head. 23 minutes into the match, Barrenta SC's goal looked a bit too open when Johannes Kruuse came free, but Edgar Trigo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Barrenta SC booed when S.C. Corinthians Paulista was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eriberto Talló didn't get a good kick on the ball. The S.C. Corinthians Paulista supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing S.C. Corinthians Paulista would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
