Luizão de Senna took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 16th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gianluigi Buffon. Apocalipse FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a rather tough play, Apocalipse FC's Sérgio Machado got a free kick in the 17th minute. Gianluigi Buffon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isaltino Secco in the 18th minute of play. Jailson Sousa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. José de Brito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Isaltino Secco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 39 minutes into the match, Apocalipse FC's goal looked a bit too open when Clemente Salles came free, but Gianluigi Buffon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Criciúma booed when Apocalipse FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sérgio Machado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gianluigi Buffon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valdir Fonseca, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jailson Sousa to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Clemente Salles notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Apocalipse FC's Gianluigi Buffon. Gianluigi Buffon was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Natã Loureiro came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Criciúma fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Natã Loureiro couldn't finish the play.
