Erivaldo Moreno sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Inácio Vasconcelos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tostão Corrêa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Válbson Sarmento, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Erivaldo Moreno put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Tostão Corrêa. Nilton Fontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Tostão Corrêa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Pinheiros Capibaras FC defense, Válbson Sarmento kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tostão Corrêa. The Pinheiros Capibaras FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tostão Corrêa should have stopped the shot. After 31 minutes of play, Matadores FC's Nilton Fontes made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tostão Corrêa was left in no man's land by his defense there! 34 minutes into the game, Lenílson Velasco cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-5. Aloísio Abreu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Pinheiros Capibaras FC's zone, Nilton Fontes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tostão Corrêa came out of the goal and Nilton Fontes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Matadores FC getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Gerson Bueno hit a great ball. 46 minutes into the match, Pinheiros Capibaras FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nilton Fontes came free, but Tostão Corrêa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 1-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Codruț Luncașu to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Codruț Luncașu in the 51st minute of play forced Matadores FC's goalkeeper Aloísio Abreu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tostão Corrêa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nilton Fontes in the 79th minute. After a rather tough play, Matadores FC's Inácio Vasconcelos got a free kick in the 84th minute. In the 95th minute, Nilton Fontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Matadores FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
