In the 26th minute Erivaldo Moreno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sérgio Trevisan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aloísio Abreu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Carlos Machado, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. A nice corner shot did that Elivélton Aparecido got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Aloísio Abreu quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Aloísio Abreu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Carlos Machado in the 32nd minute of the match. Sérgio Trevisan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gerson Bueno in the 37th minute. After 44 minutes, Dino de Salles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cambridge Esporte Clube and the Matadores FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 45th match minute, Cambridge Esporte Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dino de Salles to maneuver through the defense. Sérgio Trevisan was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Gerson Bueno. When Cambridge Esporte Clube's Zé Carlos Machado in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Matadores FC's goalie prevented a goal. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zé Carlos Machado stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Nilton Fontes might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sérgio Trevisan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nilton Fontes ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Matadores FC's zone, Victor Quirino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aloísio Abreu came out of the goal and Victor Quirino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aloísio Abreu had great luck who in the 58thth minute grab hold of the ball when Zé Carlos Machado from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. In the 61st minute, Victor Quirino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aloísio Abreu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Carlos Machado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Inácio Vasconcelos fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Matadores FC's protests and gave Inácio Vasconcelos a yellow card for diving instead. In the 65th minute, Inácio Vasconcelos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Matadores FC booed when Cambridge Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jailson Loyola didn't get a good kick on the ball. 69 minutes into the match, Rogério Carneiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sérgio Trevisan. Cambridge Esporte Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rogério Carneiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Teodoro Dantas hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. 73 minutes into the game, one of Cambridge Esporte Clube:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Gerson Bueno shot the penalty kick right outside the post. In the 78th minute, Victor Quirino left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cambridge Esporte Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Christiano Mangueira kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Elivélton Aparecido received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Aloísio Abreu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
