The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Silvinho Quintal got free with Rodrigo Guerra in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. João Augusto charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed João Augusto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. João Augusto hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. 7 minutes into the match, Pinheiros Capibaras FC's goal looked a bit too open when Arlindo Godoi came free, but Tang Quan Yan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pinheiros Capibaras FC's Tang Quan Yan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Augusto Pontes in the 9th minute of play. Rodrigo Guerra made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Silvinho Quintal sent off a good shot on target. Jhonny Rabelo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodrigo Guerra having to interfere. Tang Quan Yan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eusébio Pontes in the 16th minute of the match. 18 minutes into the match, José Augusto Pontes notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Pinheiros Capibaras FC's Tang Quan Yan. Tang Quan Yan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Narciso Mendes in the 21st minute of play forced Pombal FC's goalkeeper Rodrigo Guerra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Narciso Mendes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pinheiros Capibaras FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Narciso Mendes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rodrigo Guerra breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pombal FC's Rodrigo Guerra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Pombal FC from getting a goal against them. Tang Quan Yan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Augusto Pontes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Pinheiros Capibaras FC's Rogério Barreto got a free kick in the 34th minute. After 37 played minutes Pombal FC got a freekick which was hit by Oscar Toledo. In the 42nd minute, Tony Carioca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 44 minutes into the game, Silvinho Quintal recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rodrigo Guerra. Silvinho Quintal showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Silvinho Quintal to strike the kick off in the second half. Rodrigo Guerra stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Narciso Mendes's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. After 52 minutes Pombal FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Silvinho Quintal who took care of the corner kick. Rodrigo Guerra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvinho Quintal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pinheiros Capibaras FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Silvinho Quintal in the 58th minute. After 58 played minutes Pinheiros Capibaras FC got a freekick which was hit by Rogério Barreto. In the 62nd minute, Silvinho Quintal left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pinheiros Capibaras FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. In the 67th minute, Silvinho Quintal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pombal FC's attentive Vágner Jacinto managed to snatch the ball when Rogério Barreto made a throw-in in the 68th minute of the game. After 74 minutes, Tony Carioca mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pinheiros Capibaras FC and the Pombal FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 74 played minutes Pinheiros Capibaras FC got a freekick which was hit by Tony Carioca. Tang Quan Yan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arlindo Godoi in the 75th minute. Pombal FC's Rodrigo Guerra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silvinho Quintal in the 87th minute of play. Rodrigo Guerra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silvinho Quintal, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute.
