The throw-in from Carlos Fernando Maciel in the 3rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Floripa Lions FSCMZ's Fernandão Faria. Fernandão Faria was extremely unlucky when he, in the 4th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. An unexpectedly hard shot by Simão de Barros in the 6th minute of play forced Floripa Lions FSCMZ's goalkeeper Amerigo Muzi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luiz Gustavo do Valle's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Claudinho Taffarel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. Floripa Lions FSCMZ were awarded a corner in the 13th minute after THE MAYA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Pedro Luís Alvarenga took the corner. The corner led Floripa Lions FSCMZ's Pedro Luís Alvarenga to fire away a dangerous shot which Claudinho Taffarel despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 15th minute, Simão de Barros made a precise shot to the right of Amerigo Muzi. Floripa Lions FSCMZ's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Gustavo do Valle in the 19th minute of play forced THE MAYA's goalkeeper Claudinho Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 22 minutes into the match, THE MAYA's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Luís Alvarenga came free, but Claudinho Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 23 minutes, Luiz Gustavo do Valle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Floripa Lions FSCMZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Gustavo do Valle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Amerigo Muzi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Albuquerque, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Luiz Gustavo do Valles short, quick shot in the 31stth minute got Claudinho Taffarel to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When Floripa Lions FSCMZ's Luiz Gustavo do Valle in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind THE MAYA's goalkeeper Claudinho Taffarel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 43 minutes into the match, THE MAYA's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Gustavo do Valle came free, but Claudinho Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Josué Aguiar charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Josué Aguiar the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, THE MAYA's Josué Aguiar got a free kick in the 44th minute. Luiz Gustavo do Valle received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Claudinho Taffarel came out and tried to block the shot, but Luiz Gustavo do Valle slotted it home off the left post making it 3-1 in the 45th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luiz Gustavo do Valle to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Luiz Gustavo do Valle cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Claudinho Taffarel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience was convinced that Luiz Gustavo do Valle's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Claudinho Taffarel was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. The Floripa Lions FSCMZ fans' excitement grew in the 57th match minute when Floripa Lions FSCMZ's Luiz Gustavo do Valle looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Benê Trevisan kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gilberto Sousa in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Claudinho Taffarel saved THE MAYA from getting behind. Amerigo Muzi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osvaldinho Mazza in the 84th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 86 minutes, Simão de Barros took a quick shot and it went in 7-2 without a chance for Amerigo Muzi to make any attempt to save it. In the 89th minute, Hortêncio Montenegro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Claudinho Taffarel was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-2. Amerigo Muzi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Simão de Barros in the 93rd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Floripa Lions FSCMZ had won after a very even match.
