The THE MAYA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Claudinho Taffarel should have stopped the shot. In the 22nd minute Amadeu Rocha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudinho Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dave Panno recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Claudinho Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dave Panno, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Mamutes EC were awarded a corner in the 29th minute after THE MAYA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Valério Meireles took the corner. Claudinho Taffarel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dave Panno went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. The audience thought a goal was coming when Geraldo Gonçalves got free with Magno Correia in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mamutes EC's Dave Panno got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Claudinho Taffarel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dave Panno's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Simão de Barros during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Simão de Barros kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. A sloppy throw-in by Romeu Pirani in the 44th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Mamutes EC's Amadeu Rocha. Amadeu Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinho Taffarel having to interfere. In the 56th minute of the match Mamutes EC got a corner. THE MAYA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Valério Meireles ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of THE MAYA's goalie and right to Väino Kartul. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. THE MAYA's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. THE MAYA's Claudinho Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dave Panno in the 59th minute of play. Dave Panno who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 60thth minute tested the skills of Claudinho Taffarel when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Claudinho Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dave Panno, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Magno Correia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Josué Aguiar in the 64th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 69 minutes, Dave Panno put it in 0-6 from a short distance just to the right of Claudinho Taffarel. THE MAYA's Benê Trevisan was substituted for Lenílson Bittencourt. Dave Panno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinho Taffarel having to interfere. Claudinho Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dave Panno, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Dave Panno's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Claudinho Taffarel was relentless in the 81st minute of the game.
