If Raphael Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 48th minute Zé Carlos Monteiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Váldson Montenegro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Raphael Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jenipapo SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Raphael Cunha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Váldson Montenegro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Jenipapo SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that David Seaman should have stopped the shot. After 86 played minutes A. E. Vile got a freekick which was hit by Celso Silva. Váldson Montenegro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aníbal Alagoano in the 89th minute of play. A. E. Vile's Váldson Montenegro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aníbal Alagoano in the 90th minute of play.
