The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Adalberto Félix in the 3rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Durval Coutinho, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Bastioes EC's Adalberto Félix slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Durval Coutinho. That made the score 1-0 after 4 minutes of play. Adalberto Félix struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Durval Coutinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bastioes EC. Durval Coutinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adalberto Félix in the 10th minute. Durval Coutinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jairo Arantes in the 11th minute of play. Durval Coutinho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cássio Freitas's shot from short distance in the 13th minute. Gernando Damião could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Durval Coutinho made a huge save. Durval Coutinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adalberto Félix in the 18th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 19 minutes, Cássio Freitas took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Durval Coutinho to make any attempt to save it. In the 24th minute of the match, Adalberto Félix got a very nice opportunity to score, but Durval Coutinho was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Botafogo's Durval Coutinho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Botafogo from getting a goal against them. In the 31st minute, Bastioes EC's Adalberto Félix dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 4-0. Thanks to some nice moves Adalberto Félix could shoot a difficult shot in the 37th minute, which Durval Coutinho however easily saved by the left post. 38 minutes had been played when some careless play by Botafogo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jairo Arantes was slow to take the kick. During this time Bastioes EC's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Cássio Freitas got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Durval Coutinho quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Durval Coutinho made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Jairo Arantes sent off a good shot on target. Durval Coutinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jairo Arantes in the 41st minute of play. Durval Coutinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cássio Freitas in the 42nd minute of the match. 42 minutes into the match, Botafogo's goal looked a bit too open when Cássio Freitas came free, but Durval Coutinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Durval Coutinho came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Bastioes EC's Adalberto Félix. But to his dismay, Adalberto Félix quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Osvaldo Lago to make the kick off. Durval Coutinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jairo Arantes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 52nd match minute, Botafogo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wágner de Alcântara to maneuver through the defense. In the 53rd minute, Adalberto Félix made a precise shot to the right of Durval Coutinho. Botafogo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. 56 minutes into the match, Botafogo's goal looked a bit too open when Cássio Freitas came free, but Durval Coutinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Durval Coutinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jairo Arantes in the 58th minute of play. Durval Coutinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jairo Arantes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cássio Freitas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Durval Coutinho having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Adalberto Félix in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Durval Coutinho saved Botafogo from getting behind. Botafogo's Durval Coutinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jairo Arantes in the 64th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cássio Freitas in the 70th minute of play forced Botafogo's goalkeeper Durval Coutinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Adalberto Félix in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Durval Coutinho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Durval Coutinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cássio Freitas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Botafogo defense, Cássio Freitas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Durval Coutinho. The Botafogo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Durval Coutinho should have stopped the shot. The Bastioes EC fans' excitement grew in the 81st match minute when Bastioes EC's Cássio Freitas looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 9-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 84th match minute, Bastioes EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adalberto Félix to maneuver through the defense. Durval Coutinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jairo Arantes in the 88th minute of the match. In the 94th minute, Cássio Freitas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bastioes EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 10-0. Bastioes EC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
