The Psiu! fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Durval Coutinho didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 8th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. 11 minutes into the match, Botafogo's goalkeeper Durval Coutinho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jerônimo Dantas. In the 12th minute Deilmison Robben shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Durval Coutinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 3-0 became the score in the 13th minute when Anderson Ortiz elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Durval Coutinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Deilmison Robben in the 21st minute of play. After 26 played minutes Botafogo got a freekick which was hit by Richard Teles. In the 27th minute, Anderson Ortiz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Psiu! fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. When Psiu!'s Jerônimo Dantas, in the 30th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Psiu!. When Ernani Dante fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Botafogo's protests and gave Ernani Dante a yellow card for diving instead. In the 32nd match minute, Botafogo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ernani Dante to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Anderson Ortiz got free with Durval Coutinho in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Botafogo's Ernani Dante managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Valério Alves in the 43 minute of the game. If Waldemar Carioca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A sloppy throw-in by Remo Trigo in the 46th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Botafogo's Yuri Lara. Jerônimo Dantas hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Anderson Ortiz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Anderson Ortiz made a precise shot to the right of Durval Coutinho. Botafogo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. Botafogo's Yuri Lara managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Remo Trigo in the 57 minute of the game. The supporters of Botafogo booed when Psiu! was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jerônimo Dantas didn't get a good kick on the ball. José Munhoz made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Waldemar Carioca sent off a good shot on target. Durval Coutinho didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Anderson Ortiz went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. After 63 minutes of play, Psiu!'s Jerônimo Dantas made it 7-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Durval Coutinho was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Anderson Ortiz in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Durval Coutinho saved Botafogo from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Deilmison Robben in the 69th minute of play forced Botafogo's goalkeeper Durval Coutinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Anderson Ortiz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Durval Coutinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 78 minutes into the match, Anderson Ortiz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Durval Coutinho. Botafogo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Anderson Ortiz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 8-0. 81 minutes into the game, Deilmison Robben cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 9-0. Durval Coutinho was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Durval Coutinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anderson Ortiz in the 85th minute of play. Durval Coutinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anderson Ortiz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Durval Coutinho came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Psiu!'s Anderson Ortiz. But to his dismay, Anderson Ortiz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 10-0. Durval Coutinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anderson Ortiz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 92 played minutes Botafogo got a freekick which was hit by Claudinei Souto. Psiu!'s supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
