Deilmison van Basten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 2nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Deilmison van Basten in the 2nd minute of play forced LaCity's goalkeeper Décio Tróia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, LaCity's Arnaldo Santos got a free kick in the 7th minute. In the 7th minute Deilmison van Basten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Décio Tróia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 10 minutes into the game, Eriberto de Souza recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rodriguinho Sousa. Eriberto de Souza showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. 13 minutes into the game, Deilmison van Basten cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Décio Tróia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Anselmo Paraibano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodriguinho Sousa having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Deilmison van Basten in the 25th minute of play forced LaCity's goalkeeper Décio Tróia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Anselmo Paraibano could shoot a difficult shot in the 28th minute, which Rodriguinho Sousa however easily saved by the left post. When Deilmison van Basten came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the ATHLETICO PRaiano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Deilmison van Basten couldn't finish the play. Rodriguinho Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eriberto de Souza in the 33rd minute of play. 35 minutes into the game, Eriberto de Souza was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. LaCity's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ATHLETICO PRaiano the free kick. Eriberto de Souza kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 38th minute ATHLETICO PRaiano were awarded a corner. Betão Marquez went to the cornerflag to take it. Décio Tróia came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by ATHLETICO PRaiano's Deilmison van Basten. But to his dismay, Deilmison van Basten quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Décio Tróia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Deilmison van Basten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eriberto de Souza made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, LaCity's goalkeeper Décio Tróia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Deilmison van Basten. If Anselmo Paraibano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eriberto de Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Rodriguinho Sousa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62nd minute Eriberto de Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodriguinho Sousa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arnaldo Santos got a throw-in 64 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Anselmo Paraibano. In the 65th minute, ATHLETICO PRaiano's Deilmison van Basten ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Décio Tróia. Décio Tróia yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. In the 69th minute Unax Mudarra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Décio Tróia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. LaCity's Hermínio Siqueira was substituted for Hílton Amaral. LaCity's Duarte Madureira was substituted for Richard Silveira. LaCity's Décio Tróia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save LaCity from getting a goal against them. Vebjørn Knutsen hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. In the 85th minute, Deilmison van Basten left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ATHLETICO PRaiano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind LaCity's goalkeeper Décio Tróia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. ATHLETICO PRaiano had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
