Adalberto Félix recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 12 minutes into the game, Bastioes EC's Jairo Arantes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Durval Coutinho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Botafogo's Durval Coutinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jairo Arantes in the 14th minute of play. When Bastioes EC's Adalberto Félix in the 17th minute got a chance for a shot 17th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Botafogo's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cássio Freitas in the 19th minute of play forced Botafogo's goalkeeper Durval Coutinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21stth minute of the game Jairo Arantes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Botafogo's Durval Coutinho was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 23rd minute Adalberto Félix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Durval Coutinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Durval Coutinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cássio Freitas in the 24th minute of the match. In the 27th minute, Jairo Arantes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Durval Coutinho was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Durval Coutinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adalberto Félix in the 31st minute of play. Botafogo's Durval Coutinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cássio Freitas in the 32nd minute of play. Durval Coutinho came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Bastioes EC's Adalberto Félix. But to his dismay, Adalberto Félix quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. In the 38th minute, Jairo Arantes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Durval Coutinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adalberto Félix, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Botafogo's Richard Teles got a free kick in the 41st minute. Durval Coutinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adalberto Félix in the 43rd minute of play. After some careless play in the Botafogo defense, Cássio Freitas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Durval Coutinho. The Botafogo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Durval Coutinho should have stopped the shot. After the first half Bastioes EC were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Jairo Arantes in the 52nd minute of play forced Botafogo's goalkeeper Durval Coutinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 53 played minutes Botafogo got a freekick which was hit by Natanael Proença. A collision led to Botafogo getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Ernani Dante hit a great ball. 54 minutes into the match, Bastioes EC's Jairo Arantes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Durval Coutinho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 56 played minutes Bastioes EC got a freekick which was hit by Adalberto Félix. With a little luck, Botafogo's Durval Coutinho got control of the ball when Adalberto Félix tried to sneak it across the goal line. Waldemar Carioca struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Igor Marinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Botafogo. In the 63rd match minute, Botafogo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osvaldo Lago to maneuver through the defense. When Cássio Freitas came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Bastioes EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cássio Freitas couldn't finish the play. Adalberto Félix in the 67thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Durval Coutinho, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Durval Coutinho didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cássio Freitas went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. With a little luck, Botafogo's Durval Coutinho got control of the ball when Adalberto Félix tried to sneak it across the goal line. Waldemar Carioca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adalberto Félix could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Durval Coutinho made a huge save. Igor Marinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldo Lago in the 84th minute of play. Richard Teles hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. 88 minutes into the match, Botafogo's goalkeeper Durval Coutinho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gernando Damião. Durval Coutinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cássio Freitas in the 90th minute of the match. Adalberto Félix could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Durval Coutinho made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gernando Damião got free with Durval Coutinho in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Igor Marinho didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Waldemar Carioca went, in the 95th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-6 was the resulting score. When the match was over Bastioes EC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Botafogo throughout the match.
