With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mazinho Gaúcho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Raimundo Travassos hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Mazinho Gaúcho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raimundo Travassos in the 9th minute of the match. 13 minutes into the match, Cascavel's goal looked a bit too open when Raimundo Travassos came free, but Mazinho Gaúcho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Giovanni Castro charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Giovanni Castro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Gremio NG booed when Cascavel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giovanni Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 18th minute Raimundo Travassos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mazinho Gaúcho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, Dino do Vale had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mazinho Gaúcho. Cascavel's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dino do Vale was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. A collision led to Cascavel getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Filip Milan hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Gremio NG's Dino do Vale got a free kick in the 24th minute. Adam Encuțescu hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Cascavel's Yuri Paraibano got a free kick in the 29th minute. When the match had gone on for 31 minutes, Raimundo Travassos put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Mazinho Gaúcho. After 35 played minutes Gremio NG got a freekick which was hit by Dino do Vale. After 42 minutes, Júnior Quintana mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gremio NG and the Cascavel players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 42nd match minute, Gremio NG was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júnior Quintana to maneuver through the defense. In the 44th minute, Renatinho Oliveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

After 58 minutes of play Cascavel's Giovanni Castro was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The audience thought a goal was coming when Raimundo Travassos got free with Mazinho Gaúcho in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Júnior Quintana managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gremio NG's supporters rose to their feet, but Júnior Quintana was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mazinho Gaúcho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 63rd minute, Pedro Luiz das Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gremio NG's Júnior Quintana managed to work through Cascavel's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Júnior Quintana dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Adam Encuțescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cascavel's supporters rose to their feet, but Adam Encuțescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fábio Pinheiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Júnior Quintana could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Mazinho Gaúcho made a huge save. Mazinho Gaúcho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raimundo Travassos in the 73rd minute of the match. Filip Milan's late challenge caught a Gremio NG's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Filip Milan helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Cascavel getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Filip Milan hit a great ball. Cascavel's defense didn't have a chance, in the 78th minute, when Dino do Vale scored to the left of an out of position Mazinho Gaúcho, making the score, 1-3. Raimundo Travassos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Mazinho Gaúcho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adam Encuțescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fábio Pinheiro having to interfere. 88 minutes into the match, Cascavel's Adam Encuțescu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fábio Pinheiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 93 minutes into the match, Cascavel's goalkeeper Mazinho Gaúcho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Júnior Quintana. Adam Encuțescu struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Fábio Pinheiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cascavel. After 96 minutes of play, Cascavel's Placido Egli made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fábio Pinheiro was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the final whistle went the supporters of Gremio NG were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Cascavel side.
