In the 9thth minute of the game Gilmar Couto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Esporte Club Bahia's Marcelo Lomba was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The throw-in from Gabriel Xavier in the 15th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Botafogo MZRJ's Juvenal Camargo. Esporte Club Bahia's Marcelo Lomba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilmar Couto in the 17th minute of play. Gabriel Xavier made in the 18th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Botafogo MZRJ's Juvenal Camargo. Serginho Azevedo hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. In the 23rd minute, Botafogo MZRJ's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Tiago Xavier fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Jailson Capixaba kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Botafogo MZRJ's Juvenal Camargo quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Yan Furtado, made in the 35th minute of the game. Jailson Capixaba hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. In the 38th match minute, Botafogo MZRJ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Álvaro Melo to maneuver through the defense. Gilmar Couto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Marcelo Lomba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilmar Couto in the 42nd minute of play. If Gilmar Couto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luiz Gustavo Paes was the one to do the kick off. When Botafogo MZRJ's Gilmar Couto in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 80th minute Gilmar Couto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Lomba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 82 minutes in the game Gabriel Xavier did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Luís Eduardo Salles. 85 minutes into the match, Gilmar Couto notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Esporte Club Bahia's Marcelo Lomba. Marcelo Lomba was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 89 minutes into the game, Gabriel Xavier threw the ball into play from the sideline. José Vítor Netto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Gustavo Paes in the 95th minute of play.
