Geovanni Arruda made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Pipis Karapatakis sent off a good shot on target. 10 minutes had been played when some careless play by PERNA DE PAU SC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alberto Estevon was slow to take the kick. During this time Grêmio FBPA's players had a chance to rest. The crowd rose to their feet as Grêmio FBPA's Pipis Karapatakis slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Geovanni Arruda. That made the score 2-0 after 14 minutes of play. After 17 minutes, Pipis Karapatakis made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. PERNA DE PAU SC's Geovanni Arruda tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Grêmio FBPA booed when PERNA DE PAU SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vermudo Velazquez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Grêmio FBPA's Nestor Leão managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Vermudo Velazquez in the 28 minute of the game. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind PERNA DE PAU SC's goalkeeper Geovanni Arruda, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 34 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's Pipis Karapatakis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Geovanni Arruda narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Pipis Karapatakis's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 35thth minute, Geovanni Arruda skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Pipis Karapatakis received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Geovanni Arruda came out and tried to block the shot, but Pipis Karapatakis slotted it home off the left post making it 6-0 in the 42nd minute. Augusto Recife charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Augusto Recife the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 45 played minutes PERNA DE PAU SC got a freekick which was hit by Augusto Recife. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 6-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vágner Pernambucano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match clock showed 51 minutes, the score became 7-0 when Pipis Karapatakis sped through PERNA DE PAU SC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Geovanni Arruda. In the 54thth minute of the game Pipis Karapatakis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but PERNA DE PAU SC's Geovanni Arruda was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 64 minutes PERNA DE PAU SC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Alberto Estevon who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Alberto Estevon almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but PERNA DE PAU SC's Geovanni Arruda did a great save. In the 69th minute, Nestor Leão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 75th minute, Alfredo Dante got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 77 minutes, Pipis Karapatakis made it 9-0 with a short kick to the right side. PERNA DE PAU SC's Geovanni Arruda tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 79th match minute, PERNA DE PAU SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredo Dante to maneuver through the defense.
