Edmund Watarz scored 1-0 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jorge Loyola, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nicolae Ceaușescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hulk Zaracho in the 31st minute of play. 33 minutes into the game, Tobiasz Rostow cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0.
