The audience thought a goal was coming when Edin Džeko got free with Otávio Linhares in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edin Džeko stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Club Athletic Warszaw's zone, Edin Džeko stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Otávio Linhares came out of the goal and Edin Džeko tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 84 minutes into the match, Club Athletic Warszaw's Nilson Torres sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Amadeo Rufo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Club Athletic Warszaw's Nilson Torres slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Amadeo Rufo.
