Edinho Paraíba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dida Mesquita in the 5th minute of play. Cléber Pinho didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Vinícius Haaland went, in the 7th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Maverick Futebol Clube's Edinho Paraíba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dida Mesquita in the 16th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Dida Mesquita notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Maverick Futebol Clube's Edinho Paraíba. Edinho Paraíba was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 31st minute, Dida Mesquita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Maverick Futebol Clube were awarded a corner in the 34th minute after Paysandu's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Deivid Goiano took the corner. Reynaldo Neves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mikkel Lilleland kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dida Mesquita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reynaldo Neves in the 53rd minute of play forced Paysandu's goalkeeper Cléber Pinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dida Mesquita in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edinho Paraíba saved Maverick Futebol Clube from getting behind. After some careless play in the Maverick Futebol Clube defense, Dida Mesquita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edinho Paraíba. The Maverick Futebol Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edinho Paraíba should have stopped the shot. In the 64th match minute, Maverick Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reynaldo Neves to maneuver through the defense. Edinho Paraíba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mikkel Lilleland, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Cléber Pinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vinícius Haaland, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. 74 minutes into the match, Maverick Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Mikkel Lilleland came free, but Edinho Paraíba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reynaldo Neves blasted a shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cléber Pinho having to make a save. Reynaldo Neves kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. A collision led to Paysandu getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Octavio Sidro hit a great ball. In the 80th minute, Vinícius Haaland ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cléber Pinho was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. The corner ended in Mikkel Lilleland almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Maverick Futebol Clube's Edinho Paraíba did a great save. Fritz Salgado made in the 86th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Cacá Cavalcante. When Reynaldo Neves came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Maverick Futebol Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reynaldo Neves couldn't finish the play. The Paysandu supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Paysandu would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
