In the 44th match minute, Wellington Phoenix was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Mikolas to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Wellington Phoenix booed when ARS FUTEBOL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Qu Di Yu didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Despite this Wilian Bueno quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. ARS FUTEBOL's Wilian Bueno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tadeu Zonta in the 91st minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the ARS FUTEBOL players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Wellington Phoenix.
