With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ismael Paraense in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Durvalino Barral saved Condors F.C. from getting behind. A collision led to Condors F.C. getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Douglas Negri hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Válter Lopes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Barra EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Válter Lopes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Durvalino Barral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half Barra EC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Barra EC's Hélio Leão was substituted for Manuel Loyola. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half.
