In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Democracia Socialista's goalkeeper Juan Muno, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Botafogo AP's René Houseman got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, René Houseman put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Juan Muno. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Gugu Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot. Botafogo AP's supporters rose to their feet, but Gugu Simões was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juan Muno breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Juan Muno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gugu Simões, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Botafogo AP were awarded a corner in the 25th minute after Democracia Socialista's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ademir de Almeida took the corner. The corner led to Botafogo AP's Gugu Neves getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 28th minute, Ademir de Almeida hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valdir Garcia got free with Alan do Vale in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Botafogo AP booed when Democracia Socialista was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Breno Vieira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alan do Vale made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Breno Vieira sent off a good shot on target. Diguinho Linares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alan do Vale read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. In the 62nd minute, Soleh Al-Habsy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Diguinho Linares might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alan do Vale. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Diguinho Linares ran back to his position shaking his head. Gerson Mesquita hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. A collision led to Democracia Socialista getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Soleh Al-Habsy hit a great ball. Democracia Socialista's attentive Juan Moreno managed to snatch the ball when Carlos Eduardo Furlan made a throw-in in the 71st minute of the game. Diguinho Linares blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alan do Vale having to make a save. The supporters of Botafogo AP booed when Democracia Socialista was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Soleh Al-Habsy didn't get a good kick on the ball. 75 minutes into the game, René Houseman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Botafogo AP's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Democracia Socialista the free kick. When Fritz Ernst Joinvilense came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Botafogo AP fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fritz Ernst Joinvilense couldn't finish the play. Fritz Ernst Joinvilenses short, quick shot in the 87thth minute got Juan Muno to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Soleh Al-Habsy hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Diguinho Linares in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alan do Vale saved Botafogo AP from getting behind. When the match was over Botafogo AP could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Democracia Socialista throughout the match.
